Spring is traditionally a busy time for our customers. It is also a busy time for us, and this year is no exception. Over the next few weeks, we will reduce some of our fees, launch a number of exciting new products, make significant enhancements to our existing services and release new data.

There’s something for everyone – land and property professionals and members of the public alike, and with so much going on we don’t want you to miss anything. Here’s a taste of what is coming up.

New fees

On 17 March, our new Fee Order will come into force. Full details are on our fees pages. We encourage all our business customers to familiarise themselves with the changes and make any necessary adjustments to their processes and systems.

New services

Our new services have already started to roll off the production line with the launch of Property Alert earlier this month. This free service is designed to help members of the public protect themselves against property fraud.

Following successful user testing, we plan to launch MapSearch later this month. With MapSearch, Business e-services users can search an online Index Map, establish whether a property is registered and obtain title numbers free of charge. Business e-services customers can already access a ‘beta’ version of the service through the portal.

On 17 March we’re excited to launch Online Owner Verification – this new commercial service will enable Business Gateway customers to verify their property ownership data against Land Registry records for a fee.

Service updates

Later in March, we will activate enhancements to our electronic Document Registration Service (e-DRS). These enhancements will enable users of the portal and Business Gateway to submit electronic applications to

  • register the sale or mortgage of any registered property
  • register and extend leases on any registered property

whether the application affects the whole of the property or part of it.

We have also decided to withdraw the ‘Official Copy by Property Description – postal service from the portal information services menu on 17 March.

New data

We are excited to be releasing two new data sets over the coming weeks:

The first is our 1862 Act Registers. Once launched, anyone will be able to access electronic copies of the registers from 1862-1875 for free under the Open Government Licence.

We will also publish all categories of registered property ownership in England and Wales, excluding private individuals and overseas companies.  Data Publication will be a commercial service for which a fee is charged.

Keep in touch

As always, we will release full details through our usual channels as they become available. To be sure not to miss any important announcements:
